Chess Express

  • Jeremy Pfund ().  Penn Computer Science (Sophomore)

Chess Express is meant to be used as a light-weight interactive chess client.  Players are able to register and select usernames with dynamic ratings (provisional, at first).  They are able to play in real-time against one another and have their ratings adjusted accordingly.  To this end, every client displays a real-time listing of logged in users (along with their ratings) and a listing of tables (along with associated table information).  Users are able to view and engage in real-time chat at any running chess table.  Each table allows users to scroll back and forth through past moves in the currently running game.  In addition, users are able to save finished games and load them at a personal table, where the same scrolling action through moves is permitted.  Games can be timed and/or unrated at a table creator’s discretion.  Any user may create or view any table.
